Dr. Mark - Edward Pogărăşteanu received his M.D. degree from the "Iuliu Haţieganu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2010. In 2012, he enrolled in Ph.D. studies at the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy with the focus on bionic hand exoprosthesis equipped with a sensory interface: technical innovations and functional results. Dr. Pogărăşteanu successfully defended his thesis mentored by Prof.Dr. Adrian Barbilian. From 2014 until 2017, Dr. Pogărăşteanu worked as a Ph.D. researcher at the same faculty on a project related to assistive systems for rehabilitation. From 2011 until now Dr. Pogărăşteanu has worked as an orthopedic surgeon. In 2017 he became an assistant professor at "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
Matija Štrbac - Serbia
Dr. Matija Štrbac received B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the University of Belgrade, School of Electrical Engineering in 2010 and 2011, respectively. In 2011, he enrolled Ph.D. studies at the same faculty with the focus on the development of the computer vision system that would allow automatic control of electrical stimulation. Matija successfully defended his thesis mentored by prof. Dejan Popović in Oct 2017. From 2012 until 2015, Dr. Štrbac worked as a Research Assistant at the School of Electrical Engineering on a project related to assistive systems for rehabilitation. In 2013 he started working for Tecnalia Serbia Ltd. as the lead researcher in the projects related to FES assisted rehabilitation of upper extremity and development of electrotactile feedback interface that can provide real-time proprioceptive and sensory information from a multi-DoF hand prosthesis. In 2016 Matija became the Director of Tecnalia Serbia Ltd.
Petko Kiriazov - Bulgaria
Petko Kiriazov studied mathematics/mechanical engineering and received M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees at Sofia University, Bulgaria. He has been an associate professor with Institute of Mechanics and Biomechanics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in Robotics for more than 25 years. For several years until now, Dr.Kiriazov is also an adjunct professor with the same Academy for giving lectures and his expertise in dynamics, control and optimization to Ph.D. students. Dr.Kiriazov had received research visit grants on various topics at many universities in Europe and beyond. Accordingly, he had participated in a number of research and innovation projects. His expertise is in Dynamics, Control, Design, Identification, and Optimization of various-type mechanical and biomechanical systems. Dr.Kiriazov has published more than 50 conference and journal papers. His main research focus has been Motor Control and Learning of Human Motion for more than ten years. He is especially concerned with motor rehabilitation of people with Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson Decease, or after Stroke
Levent Buş - Kosovo
Levent Buş graduated from Trakya University, Department of Orthotics - Prosthetics in 2002 and in 2018 from the Department of Physiotherapy at the Faculty of Medicine in Rezonanca. From 2001 to 2003, he was the President of the Filizler Culture and Art Association, and then from 2005 to 2009, he was the President of the MESK Multinational Kosovo Association. Member of the Board of Directors of the Democratic Turkish Party of Kosovo (KDTP) and member of CDEB between 2006-2012, Central Election Commissioner between 2009-2010, Political Advisor of the Ministry of Industry and Trade between 2011-2015, Kosovo Democratic Turkish Party (KDTP) Prizren Branch Chairman between 2012-2015 and Deputy Mayor of Prizren Municipality between 2014-2018. Since 2018, he has been working as Advisor to the Speaker of the Assembly of the Kosovo Parliament.
Nikos Karavidas - Greece
Nikos Karavidas received BSc degree in Physiotherapy from the University of West Attica, Greece in 2007 and MSc degree in Sports Physiotherapy from University of Cardiff, the United Kingdom in 2011. He has attended the following educational courses; SEAS I course (Milan, Italy, 2012), Schroth BSPTS C1 course (Barcelona, Spain, 2014), Schroth BSPTS C2 course (Zwolle, Netherlands, 2015), Schroth Best Practice course (Nijmegen, Netherlands, 2015), McKenzie method (Athens, Greece, 2015), Official Schroth BSPTS Instructor (2017), Schroth ISST course (Bad Sobernheim, Germany, 2018). Nikos is the owner of “Schroth Scoliosis & Spine Clinic” in Greece, specializing in the conservative treatment of spinal deformities. He is one of the very few Physiotherapists world widely that has been certified in every Schroth method branch: Schroth BSPTS by Dr. Manuel Rigo, Schroth Best Practice, by Dr. Hans Rudolf Weiss, Schroth ISST, by Axel Hennes. He is a member of the Society on Scoliosis Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Treatment (SOSORT), International Research Society of Spinal Deformities (IRSSD) and European Spine Society (Eurospine) associations.
Remzo Dedic - Bosnia and Herzegovina
Remzo Dedić is professor and vice-dean at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Computing and Electrical Engineering, University of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He received the Ph.D. degree from University of Mostar, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in 1991. He had Fitzroy - Maclean scholarship at University of Glasgow, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Glasgow, Scotland, UK, 2000. He had Fulbright scholarship at Carnegie Mellon University, Robotic Institute, Medical Robotic Lab, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, 2003/4. His courses are: Theory of Mechanisms, Lifting and Conveying Machinery, Hydraulic Systems, and Manufacturing process. He is the author of three books and co-author of three books. He is also the author or co-author of thirty-five scientific papers. He was the coordinator of several research projects and participant in about thirty projects.
Remzo Dedic is a member of H2020 Programme Committees for Smart, Green and Integrated Transport.
Turgut Akgül - Turkey
Dr. Turgut Akgül graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Medicine in 2005. He specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology in 2011 at Istanbul University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology with his thesis titled "Extensible Rod Applications in Early Onset Spine Curvatures ”. He is a member of the Hip Knee Arthroplasty Association, Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Education Council (TOTEK), Turkish Spine Society (TOD), TOTBID (Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Association), TOTDER (Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Society), the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), Eurospine, The Spine Society of Europea. He is the Secretary of the Journal of Turkish Spinal Surgery and a member of the Scientific Committee of the National Journal of Trauma and Emergency Surgery. Between 2011-2012, he worked in Şanlıurfa Training and Research Hospital. Since 2012, Dr. Akgül has been working as a specialist in the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Istanbul University, Istanbul Medical School.
Hakan Uysal - Turkey
Gülnur Öztürk - Turkey
She completed her undergraduate education in 1993 at Istanbul University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation. In 1997, she completed the M.Sc. in the same university's Institute of Health Sciences, Exercise Physiology Department. Her Ph.D. degree was completed in 2010 at Trakya University, Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Physiology.
She worked as a sports physiotherapist in Beşiktaş Sports Club Women's Volleyball A-Team in 1997, hand therapist in the Istanbul University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Plastic Surgery between 1997-2004. She worked as a hand therapist in the Trakya University, Health Center for Medical Research and Practice, Rehabilitation Department between 2004-2007. Since 2011, she has been working at the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Faculty of Health Sciences, Trakya University.
She was the president of the 5th National Hand Rehabilitation Congress held on 6-9 May 2018 in Pamukkale, Denizli.
She continues her studies on “Breathing", which she started in 2016 and approached with a scientific perspective, with various seminars and workshops.
Safiye Özkan - Turkey
Safiye Özkan completed her undergraduate studies in 1995 at the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation at Istanbul University. After completing her M.Sc. degree in Istanbul University, Department of Pediatric Neurology in 2003 with the thesis "Prognosis in Congenital Brachial Plexus Injuries", Özkan completed her Ph.D. studies with her thesis "Results of Late Stage Physiotherapy in Patients Undergoing Tibialis Posterior Tendon Transfer" at Hacettepe University, Prosthetics-Orthotics and Biomechanics Department in 2014.
She is a member of the Turkish Physiotherapy Association, Association of Hand Therapists and Association of Pediatric Physiotherapists. Özkan has been working in the İstanbul University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery since 1995.
Burçin Akçay - Turkey
She was born in 1981 in İzmir. She completed her B.Sc. in 2003 and M.Sc. in 2007 at Hacettepe University School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation. Her master thesis was on "Evaluation of Functional Status of Knee in Patients with Mechanical Low Back Pain”. She has worked in the private sector for many years on orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation. In 2008, she started scoliosis studies by taking “Three-Dimensional Scoliosis Therapy According to Katharina Schroth” and “Modern Techniques and Basic Standards in Conservative Scoliosis Management” in Germany, and “SEAS (Scientific Exercises Approach to Scoliosis)" in Italy. She continues to work on conservative treatment of scoliosis. She completed her Ph.D. program in 2017 at Dokuz Eylül University School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation with her thesis titled "Investigation of the Efficiency of Three-Dimensional Scoliosis Exercises and Balance-Coordination Exercises in the Conservative Treatment of Adolescent İdiopathic Scoliosis Patients”. Since 2018, she has been working at Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation.
Nilgün Bek - Turkey
Nilgün Bek completed her undergraduate education in 1991 at Hacettepe University, School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation. Nilgün Bek completed her master's degree in 1995 at Hacettepe University, Institute of Health Sciences, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation and she completed her Ph.D. in 2000 at the same institute with the thesis titled “Effectiveness of physical therapy and rehabilitation in congenital talipesequinovarus”.
Nilgün Bek has been working in the fields of Orthoses and Biomechanics, Physiotherapy Approaches in Foot and Ankle Problems, Congenital and Acquired Pediatric Pathologies. She works as a professor at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, and also she is the Director of Hacettepe University, Podiatry Practice and Research Center.
